Hybrid Car – Should You Switch or Not?
I have been hearing a lot about hybrid cars and how they are more environment friendly so I did a simple research about what makes hybrid cars energy efficient. Here are the things I found out.
1. Hybrid cars are equipped with two kinds of engines – gasoline and electric or battery operated engine. The two types of engines work together making the car fuel efficient. If normal cars can run only a few miles per gallon, hybrid cars, on the other hand, will be able to go more than 60 miles for just a single galon. Imagine how much savings you’ll have with that!
2. Because hybrid cars are so energy efficient, the government is giving out benefits to car owners who would switch to hybrid cars. Benefits given may be in the form of tax icentives, free parking or free entry to car pool lanes.
3. The braking system of the hybrid car is configured such that the energy released is used to charge its own batteries which means that these cars do not need to be charged in an electric outlet.
As far as disadvantages I only encountered two. One is that it’s still expensive to buy a hybrid car at the moment and second, the battery of the hybrid car stores a lot of energy making it more dangerous for the driver to be electrocuted if he figures in an accident.
So there. Now, are you ready to switch to a hybrid car or not?
