What To Do if Bitten by Dog or Cat Suspected with Rabies
We have a dog and a cat at home. We already had them vaccinated but sometimes I still worry what if our son or any one of us got bitten by them or any stray dog or cat in our area. Good thing I chanced upon this article by RITM. RITM or Research Institute in Tropical Medicine is a government facility in the Philippines and they can help you if ever you are in this unfortunate situation of being bitten.
Before you go to there, however, you must wash your bite wound first with soap and water. Then apply 70% alcohol or betadine in the wound area. Then go directly to RITM for the necessary anti-rabies vaccination. You would have to pay a fee but it would be less compared to what you would pay in a private hospital.
