Slide

Aside from GoKarts, slides are Zyke’s favorite. He has tried a myriad of slides – from the small slide at small play-pens when he was still very young, to the bigger slides at mall playgrounds, even the high water slides at Splash Island. I have contemplated on attaching a slide to his bed before – just to make it fun but sadly I’m not much of a carpenter and I’m not good with tools like pliers and even L-handle latches.

Anyway here is Zyke having a good time at a giant slide in a nearby children’s play area:

Go Karts

Since our son is home schooled, it is imperative for us to make sure that he gets to go out and enjoy as often as our schedules permit. Home Schooling and other home based studies are getting popular because of the positive effects and results taken from it. There are even Online elementary education degree available! Finally parents are afforded to take their role seriously – and that is to guide the learning of their children.

To make sure our home-schooler gets his fair share of fresh air, my wife and I have resolved to turn our Saturdays into a special family day. We will be going to kiddie parks or malls with playgrounds for our kids to enjoy. Our favorite venue by far is the Quezon Memorial Circle, although quite far from where we live, the benefits and joy it gives our kids outweigh the cost and travel time.

The place keeps getting better – aside from the many kiddie playgrounds that are available for free, they now have water pedal rides and bike like go-karts. My eldest son really love riding these go-karts as evidenced by the picture below:

Go Karts!

I even join him from time to time because the venue offers a big three lane circuit for even dads to join their kids. Each ride costs around P40 to P100 per 20 minutes depending on the type of ride.

Panglao Island Nature Resort

Panglao Island Nature Resort is easily my favorite among the many places we visited at Bohol. The view was nice, the ambience was relaxing and although the beach was not as great as Bohol Beach Club’s – the infinity pools more than make up for it. And my tastebuds also loved the food at PINR more so than the ones we ate at BBC or Loboc River Cruise. The only thing I can think of that would make Panglao Island Nature Resort even more family friendly is if they had a rheem pool heater, making the pool a pleasure to swim on at night or early in the morning. Here is Kuya and Bunso playing around at the pool:

Z’s Toy Boat

While vacationing at Bohol, we visited a nearby mall called The Island City Mall of Tagbilaran. While replenishing our supplies, we looked at the toy section and bought Z a simple and cheap toy boat. This decision was one of the best purchases we’ve done at Bohol because Z really loved it. It made his swimming experience a lot better and enjoyable. He played with it a lot while swimming at Panglao Nature Island Resort. Too bad that we could not find the required screw driver to install its battery which was a duracell procell aaa, thankfully the boat still floated on its own and moved which kept Z’s enjoyment at maximum.

Christmas Celebration 2011

Christmas Celebration 2011

Christmas has come and gone. Time really flies fast!

We were fortunate to have some quality bonding time for Christmas. For the first time, I was not on a shifting schedule unlike the past Christmases when I was still working in a call center. Back then, I had to choose between Christmas and New Year when to take my holiday. Since my birthday falls on January 1, I always choose to work during Christmas. This year, I can choose not to work for the whole week after Christmas. Although I still worked by choice after Christmas, I feel fortunate to be able to rest for three days straight.

We had enough time to shop for gifts for my wife and my children. We opened our gifts on the night before Christmas. I got an extra fully pillow from my wife. My wife got a set of earrings from me. My eldest got himself another toy. I know in a few years he won’t be asking for toys anymore and would prefer clothes and jansport bags so I’m spoiling him while he’s little. After opening our presents, we proceeded to my mother’s house for the Noche Buena. The next day, we went to Church to say our prayers and to greet Jesus a Happy birthday.

And that’s how we celebrated our Christmas for 2011. How about you? How was your Christmas?
